HELLO, I'M MAKALA!!

Hi, I’m Makala, a South Florida photographer documenting motherhood, growing families, and the beautifully fleeting seasons in between.

Photography has always felt personal to me. Not because everything needs to look perfect, but because life moves so quickly and the little moments we think we’ll always remember somehow become the ones we miss the most. The way your baby fits perfectly on your shoulder, the tiny hands reaching for yours, the laughter in between the posed photos, the beautiful chaos of simply being together. Those are the moments I’m drawn to most.

As a wife and mom myself, I understand just how fast these seasons pass. I know what it feels like to want to hold onto a moment a little longer while also trying to soak it all in at the same time. That’s a huge part of why I love what I do. Photography gives us something tangible to return to long after the season itself has changed.

My approach to sessions is simple and connection focused. I want your photos to feel like you. Nothing overly stiff or forced. I’ll guide you when needed, but I also leave space for the in between moments that usually end up meaning the most. The cuddles, the movement, the messy little interactions, the quiet moments you didn’t even realize were happening.

I’m especially drawn to documenting motherhood and family life because there is something so sacred about being invited into these chapters. Whether I’m photographing your first baby, your growing family, or another season years later, it truly never feels ordinary to me. Getting asked to come back and continue documenting someone’s story is one of the greatest honors of this job, and something I will never take for granted.

More than anything, I want you to walk away with photographs that feel honest. Photos that bring you back to a feeling, not just a pose. Images that your children will someday look at and recognize as home, love, and the people who adored them most.
